Sharlen Moore

Co-Founder/ Executive Director

Sharlen is a co-founder and Director of Urban Underground and has over 27 years of experience working with youth. She has previously been involved in youth education and development work in Milwaukee, as a staff member with the YMCA for over 10 years – serving as a camp counselor, lifeguard, and Leaders Club founder. She has served as a Youth Work Organizer with the Boys and Girls Club, life skills trainer for the Wisconsin Foundation for Independent Colleges-College Readiness 21 program, MPS, and a wide range of community based organizations. She has also done countless trainings in and out of the city for program staff, youth, teachers, college students, and parents. Sharlen also serves on the advisory board of Employ Milwaukee and participates with a variety of coalitions.

Ta'Sha Barber

Assistant Director

Ta’sha is a graduate of Kennesaw State University with a B.S in Political Science  and Legal Studies. She is a progressive leader with more than a decade of experience and knowledge of government relations, and civil rights advocacy. With deep roots in education, women’s rights, LBGTQ she will not waver in the fight for a better future for all minorities and the disenfranchised. Prior to coming to Urban Underground she was a high school life skills & history teacher which later lead her to become an organizer with the teachers union.

Isaiah Joseph

Public aLly/ Program Coordinator

Isaiah is a recent graduate of Marquette University with a B.A in Advertising. During his undergraduate experience, Isaiah developed his skills in videography, photography, and other multimedia.  Since graduating, he has worked for Urban Underground, serving as its Public Ally. Through the Public Allies program, he has developed an intensive understanding of diversity, anti-oppression, and leadership development alongside 39 other individuals working at organizations throughout Milwaukee. This year, he has developed formal and informal partnerships between Urban Underground and different Public Allies placements.

Darrin B. Madison Jr.

Assistant Executive Director

Darrin is an alumni/staff member of Urban Underground and has ten years of experience as a youth advocate and community organizer. As a volunteer coordinator, he previously worked for the Urban Ecology Center, creating meaningful service opportunities that engaged populations of all ages. In addition to that work, he interned at USDA Forest Service Urban Connections department, where he developed and facilitated environmental science curriculum for youth. As an alumnus of Urban Underground, he has a vast familiarity with youth development, developing youth-led programs and projects, and training youth to use their voice to create change in their communities. Darrin also serves as an ACLU Milwaukee board member and fellow with the National Youth Alliance For Boys & Men of Color (NYABMOC).
